In most countries that are resource rich, the local population does in fact get a benefit in that commodity being cheaply available. Example Petrol in Saudi Arabia is very cheap as they have the Oil. Even Petrol in USA compared to Australia is cheaper. In Europe that have no real oil reserves Petrol is expensive.
Our Gas prices have just gone up and up and up. We are selling huge amounts of gas overseas to China with no real benefit to Australians. According to the latest quarterly resources outlook from the chief economist at the federal department of industry, innovation and science shows that Australia was likely to overtake Qatar as the biggest gas exporter. Yet, we the locals are being laughed at by the Oil and Gas Giants, and the politicians that are supposed to be looking after the people are clearly not doing so.
To make matters worse most states have put a ban on GAS FRACKING. Why do they do that?
Easy, rather than find a solution, the easy vote gaining thing is simply ban it. So, we the people AGAIN must “cop it sweet”.
There is in fact a solution to the bad side of Fracking. However, to take this solution on board requires that the Oil and Gas Giants, and the law makers recognise that we have a viable solution (PROVEN) and take it up.
We have plenty of gas, all we need to do is get it out of the ground SAFELY AND CLEANLY.
If you believe that Australia should be run for the benefit of Australians look us up and BOTHER your local politicians until they can no longer “sit on the fence”, and must do what is right for all Australians.
