Energy is an inevitable requirement in our modern society but where we extract from is point of great discussion. According to the US Energy Information Administration “Renewable energy is energy from sources that are naturally replenishing but flow-limited. They are virtually inexhaustible in duration but limited in the amount of energy that is available per unit of time. ”
However, Geothermal energy is the heat from Earth. It’s clean and sustainable. Resources of geothermal energy range from the shallow ground to hot water and hot rock found a few miles beneath the Earth’s surface and down even deeper to the extremely high temperatures of molten rock called magma. The steam or hot water comes out of the cracks in the Earth and when it doesn’t find any way to come out, holes are drilled with pipes in it to gush the hot water out due to high pressure which turn the turbines of a generator to produce electricity.
I would point out that Geothermal energy Of ALL the so called renewable is the ONLY one that can give BASE LOAD POWER.
Solar energy can only work if and when the sun shines and wind can only work if and when the wind blows. What that means is it is inherently UNRELIABLE and will always need to be backed up with a more reliable power source.
I am not sure if you have noticed that they are advertising home generators on TV as back up to what may soon become unreliable power suppliers. So it appears that as we think we are moving forward we are actually going backwards.
ON the other hand GEOTHERMAL power once established will generate power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, year after year. GEOTHERMAL can provide BASE LOAD POWER.
Using the ANNSCA principle and technology, it is possible to have smaller URBAN power stations of say 5MWh in a local area. The appearance is like a 2 story house and there is NO ODOR, NO NOXIOUS GASSES, NO NOISE.
The added advantage of URBAN power stations is exactly as the name suggests. The power can be generated where it is needed and near the point of use. That means
NO MASSIVE TRANSMISSION TOWERS
NO MASSIVE LOSSES OF POWER BY TRANSMITTING OVER LONG DISTANCES.
An interconnected network of URBAN GEOTHERMAL POWER STATIONS will support each other as back up and you get MOST of the power generated to actually use, not disappear via “singing” transmission cables.
Looking forward, and taking the situation seriously, as indeed they are in Europe I think ANNSCA GEOTHERMAL has an excellent solution.
This solution was not possible until ANNSCA WAPPS was developed. But now it is available and we can for the first time have the URBAN GEOTHERMAL Power Stations to allow us CLEAN and RELIABLE POWER.
